Connecting, and what to expect
Use a USB-C data cable (charge-only cables do not work), and close any other app that might be using the card or the 8mu (a serial monitor, another MIDI editor, another browser tab).
Use Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser. Safari and iOS browsers do not support WebMIDI with SysEx.
Press Connect card & 8mu. The browser asks for permission to use MIDI devices with SysEx: choose Allow. The card appears as Graphic Osc; an 8mu as 8mu.
Three ways to use it. (1) 8mu straight into the module: no computer needed, and this page is not used. (2) 8mu into this computer, this computer into the module: the 8mu drives this page and the page drives the card. (3) Only this computer: click and drag the faders.
The card decides once, at power-up, whether its USB port is a host (8mu) or a device (computer). After plugging the computer in, power-cycle the module.
The card forgets its settings when it is switched off. Presets live in this browser only; after a power-up, press Send to card or load a preset.
The preview is a re-implementation of the card's renderer. It shows the wave before symmetry, which the card applies while playing, and before band-limiting for pitch.
Faders: click and drag, or focus one and use the arrow keys (Shift = bigger steps). Double-click resets a fader.
