Players → CV Out 1 / 2

CV Out 1 is the number of the last team 1 player to touch the ball, CV Out 2 the last team 2 player. Players are numbered as in football: 1 goalie, 2-3 defence, 4-8 midfield, 9-11 attack, top to bottom on each rod.

Pulse 2

Audio 1 is how far the ball is from the goal team 1 attacks (the right-hand one); Audio 2 from the left-hand one. About 0V in the goal mouth to about +5V at the far corners; the card's switch up turns it into nearness instead.

How to play

Put the 8mu between the two players, its buttons towards the screen. Each player has the four faders nearest them, one per rod, and the two buttons nearest them:

  • Faders slide the rods up and down the table. By default the fader nearest you is your goalie, then defence, midfield and attack, so the two attacks meet in the middle of the 8mu.
  • Hard shot (button A for team 1, D for team 2) spins the rod right round over the bar; soft shot (B, C) is a flick forwards, the men facing up at you for a moment. (Physics: Buttons, for draw back and shoot instead.)
  • Draw back (button A for team 1, D for team 2) lifts the men's feet up behind them, so they lie face down over the table and the ball rolls underneath. Hold it as long as you like; it stays drawn back for a moment after you let go.
  • Shoot (B, C) on its own is a soft shot: a flick forwards, the men facing up at you for a moment. Shoot while drawn back for a hard shot: the men swing down through the ball and right round over the bar.
  • The ball rolls under the rods, and under any man whose feet are off the table.
  • Human + CPU (next to the score): you play one rod and the CPU plays your other three. Your rod is the one whose fader you moved last, glowing on the table; move any fader at any time to take that rod instead. Draw back and shoot work your rod.
  • A goal fires a burst of triggers on that team's pulse out. A dead ball is served again automatically after a few seconds (Physics: Unstick after).

Keyboard: team 1 rods Q/A W/S E/D R/F, Z and X its buttons A and B; team 2 rods U/J I/K O/L P/;, , and . its buttons C and D. Space serves, Esc pauses.

Card: plug this computer into the Computer's USB socket, power-cycle the module, and press Connect: the card appears as the MIDI device Fader Footie. The 8mu plugs into this computer. Needs Chrome or Edge.
