The 8mu can plug into the module (no computer needed) or into this computer, which passes it on to the card. Its faders are relative probabilities: one at zero is never chosen, one twice as high as another twice as often. A first page all at zero makes every choice equally likely.
| Buttons | A Notes, B Octaves, C Gates, D Ratchets. Press the same button again for its second page (voice 2's), again for its envelope page (A Attack, B Decay, C Pluck, D Depth), again for voice 2's envelope page, and again to go back. |
| Notes | One fader per note of the scale, from the root up. A scale with fewer than eight notes ignores the extra faders; none has more, so every note has its own fader. |
| Octaves | Fader 1 −2 V up to fader 8 +5 V (fader 3 is 0 V). |
| Gates | Fader 1 a rest (no gate, no envelope; the pitch still moves), 2-7 one to six sevenths of the time to the next hit, 8 tied: the gate stays up into the next note, which glides in without a new envelope. |
| Ratchets | Faders 1-4 hit 1×, 1.5×, 2×, 3× a step on one note (1.5× is two hits, the second two thirds of the way through); 5-8 hit 1.5×, 2×, 3×, 4×, each hit drawing a new note, octave and gate. |
| Attack, Decay | Each note's attack or decay time, from a quarter (fader 1) to four times (fader 8) the knob's, faders 4 and 5 a little either side. All at zero: off, the knob exactly. |
| Pluck | Each note's pluckiness, from half its range below the knob (fader 1) to half above (fader 8). All at zero: off. |
| Depth | Each note's envelope peak, from an eighth of full (fader 1) to full 5 V (fader 8). All at zero: off, always full. |
| Voice 2 | While a second page is all at zero, voice 2 draws from the first page too: two different lines with the same probabilities. Raise any fader on it and voice 2 uses it, on its own. Each kind of page decides this separately. The envelope pages are drawn with each note: once a step, and at every hit of a new-note ratchet. |
| Pickup | After a page change a fader does nothing until it reaches (or passes) the stored value. While one is waiting, a dashed line on its on-screen fader shows where it is. |
| LEDs | For 3 s after a fader or button is touched: the page's probabilities, the likeliest fully lit (ratchets flash at their own speed, in time). Then what's playing: the note or octave, a bar up to the gate length, the ratchet flashing at each hit, the envelope's deviation or depth in use (dark when that page is off). On a first page voice 2 shares, voice 2 shows dimly too. |
